FIRM HISTORY
Peter Steer Architects (PSA) is a small-sized architectural firm
located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Central New York State.
Specializing in projects ranging in scope from one-half to five million
dollars, PSA has built a reputation for providing careful attention
to the owner's goals, creative architectural solutions and a philosophy
dedicated to doing things right the first time.
Founded in 1991 the firm has completed a wide range of projects for
numer-ous clients, first in the American Southwest and since 1996, also
throughout the Northeastern States (primarily New York State). The firm's
strength lies in its low volume, hands-on approach with the principal,
Peter Steer, doing much of the work himself. Careful selection and orchestration
of a project's team members, whether they are in-house, or consultants,
and a fierce commitment to successful project scheduling and budget
control has made PSA very successful.Realizing highly crafted, technically
advanced buildings takes strong design and management skills. PSA has
developed an approach to managing design and construction that acknowledges
the formidable amount of information involved. PSA emphasizes the responsibility
of the architect to collect, coord-inate and utilize data in order to
lead the entire design team. We use state of the art computer technology
for design, virtual modeling, and construction administration and project
management. We also make sure that our client's remain well informed
and engaged throughout the entire process. PSA's project list is ever
growing and comprises all types and sizes of building projects, from
basic bathroom & kitchen remodels and other residential additions
to large multi-million dollar commercial projects. Services are offered
that include feasibility studies, site acquisition, programming and
conceptual design, through to the preparation of construction drawings
and specifications. When required we also provide administration and
supervision of the construction process. This is true whether your project
is brand new structure or a simple repair to an existing building. If
your project entails an existing building PSA's philosophy is to provide
a seamless, virtually invisible addition, using historically appropriate
materials and detailing, applied correctly. A new building should reflect
its time and location, it must also meet the owner's objectives and
do all this in the most aesthetically pleasing manner possible.
Licensing:
The specifics relating to architectural licensing vary from state to
state, consequently, in those states where Peter Steer AIA, CSI does
not already hold a valid architectural licence or where state law otherwise
prohibits the practice of residential design by unlicenced individuals
PSA Custom Homes will engage the services of a Professional Engineer
duly licenced in that state to certify that the project meets or exceeds
state requirements.
Our goal is to seek intelligent solutions that are both creative and practical.
"Beautiful building only happens by design"
