Angled red brick "turrets" accentuate the building's centrally placed entrance and contrast with the black glass used elsewhere. Roof mounted skylights provide natural daylight to the full-height interior atrium of this 24,000 SF three-story office building. Ficus trees and bromeliads planted at completion are still thriving years later. Stairs, elevators and restrooms are located within the angled towers which flank the entrance - handicap access is located off the parking lot to the building's rear. The brickwork is actually a veneer that covers up steel stud framing. Similarly, the dual-glazed tinted glass curtain walling system conceals the structural steel frame that was designed to withstand both earthquake and wind loads. |
